Gender Wars

The meaning of sex and gender lies at the heart of one of the most polarised issues of our times. Amidst the noise and fear there is a lack of much needed meaningful dialogue and often a short supply of empathy.

Politicians and institutions are struggling to deal with the consequences of this emotive issue on society. This film has access to people involved in both sides of the debate, from philosopher and writer Kathleen Stock who left her university job after protests against her views on gender self- identification to Professor Stephen Whittle who has been actively involved in the campaign for transgender rights for 50 years.

But as opinions on sex and gender remain entrenched the debate shows no sign of becoming less divisive and toxic. This film asks what the solutions might be? Is there an end in sight to the Gender Wars?
